I used a 1968 14" crownline boat, and a 1994 wet jet duo 200 for this build. sectioned the the jet ski bottom and rear into the crownline. i originally cut too much width out of the bottom of the boat and had to add material.. If you look at some of the larger jet skis they are getting close to 1,000 pounds of empty weight, and some of the larger ones have a capacity of 500 pounds, so if you consider how much you will yank out of the boat by going to the lighter and smaller engine, you could be getting into the range where it might make sense..
I am planning on making a jet boat from scratch, something similar to a jet dinghy or a jon boat. this would be the first boat i make, i have had 2 small fishing boats before, one of polyester and now one of aluminium, both under 5 meters. i would like to build the boat out of aluminium.. The jetabout 18 is our jet-ski boat plan featuring a powered runabout with classic looks. this run about boat plan is built with modern materials.. New build four years ago, goes well, ideal for river even canal or coastal. would make an awesome dinghy . jet drive is a kawasaki 550 cc jet ski engine .. must be seen. be quick.
