Rowing at the university of chester is a large team sport. we have a number of members who had never rowed until they started uni, it is a great way to learn something new while keeping fit. we also have members who have rowed from a young age, which means there is a very diverse range of levels within the club..
Grosvenor rowing club is based on the groves in chester.it rows on the river dee and has around 30 km of rowable river, much of which straight and broad.. the club colours are dark blue and gold, the blades and boats being dark blue and orange. history. The most famous of the type, the “whitehall” boats of new england, are still considered a touchstone of small craft elegance. the chester yawl is based on the whitehall and adopts its distinctive plumb bow and “wineglass” transom. however, the chester yawl is a thoroughbred rowing craft and we do not offer kits for a sailing version.
